    5.5G Journal

The roots were long enough to add to gravel (I made sure the rhizomes weren't buried).   Thank you for the tip! I will make sure to do that in a bit :)   Just an update: It's been 6 days since adding TSS. The ammonia is at 1 - 1.5 ppm (as expected). My betta boy is a bit sluggish, but it's a...

Hi!   I'd like to share with you guys my 5.5G's journey! Fun Fish For 10 Gallon?

I would recommend either using one faucet or the other. There is no way the constant change in water is good for your fish.  Definitely only use one with your shrimp (they'd do better in soft water than they would in hard).

    Fun Fish For 10 Gallon?

The footprint of a 10G is too small for Cories, IMO.   Instead of fish, have you looking into inverts? RCS are great little guys and breed easily. Look into nano fish, many great options for a 10G tank.

New To Planted Tanks---Bought A Java Fern

With a low-light set-up you don't need to get any special fertz or C02. I wouldn't start worrying about that stuff until you have a moderate to high light set-up.   If you are to get any heavy root feeders (Crypts, Swords, Aponogetons) and you are not using a special plant substrate, I would...

Thank you both for the warm welcome.   Just a question, what are the grey dots that certain users have under their avatar? Is this some kind of system to show the amount of years one has actively been on the forum? Or is it some type of reputation system?

New To Planted Tanks---Bought A Java Fern

Java Ferns do not specifically have any special needs, just make sure not to bury the rhizomes. Burying the rhizomes of Java Fern can kill it. Java Ferns will grow little plantlets, but you are not required to remove them. Being that your tank is a low-light set-up, I wouldn't worry about fertz...

    Finally Signed Up

Yes I do, but thank you. I plan on doing a fish-in cycle with TSS (Tetra SafeStart). As for the stockplan, I'm still unsure. My LFS sells a WIDE variety of nano fish, so I'm not sure. I know for sure one of the tanks will be a betta tank.   Thank you for the warm welcomes :)

    Finally Signed Up

Thank you all for the warm welcome.   Currently I have 2 tanks waiting to be set-up (5.5G and 10G). I have big plans for both of these tanks, but I can't set-up them up due to the lack of equipment (aka broke college kid). Once I have then up and running, I plan to share pictures of them.
