Hi all, I currently have a fully cycled tank, which is complete with: 3 platies 2 guppies 2 panda cory's ..and a snail. go snail. Tank size is 48 litres! I'm wondering what I can safely stock with, since I don't exactly trust the LFS advice that I'm badly understocked. Thanks! :good:

Looking like a nice first tank! However, I must say that when I first kept shrimp a few years ago and we added them to a new-ish tank, they all died within a few days of eachother - simply because they couldn't handle the trace amounts of ammonia and nitrites that were still present from the cycle.

Hi guys, My LFS is attempting to sell me a Powerhead, saying that for the survival of my fish its essential. From my understanding, a powerhead is simply for waterflow and to increase aeration and gas exchange... I am already running an Interpet PF 2 filter with ventri in a 14 US gallon...

Both LFS's that I have been to have known about fishless cycling, they just don't actively promote it (obvious reasons - they are out to make a living, naturally). The guy I have been speaking to a lot said that if he was allowed to reccomend and promote it, he would - I think that realistically...

I also have a question regarding sand - can it be placed atop gravel, or should all gravel be removed first?

You should perform large water changes, and you can also dose with Prime or AmQuel+, which detoxifies nitrite and ammonia so they are not harmful to your fish, and are more easily removed by your aquarium's bio-filter.

Ahaha, some of these are just terrible! Good laugh, the toilet one seems an interesting concept. Poor fish!
