    bettas rescued plus problems.

yeah, poor walmart fish. When I got her they were going to dump her down the drain, while she was still alive!!!! I saved another at the same time but he was covered totally in fungus and didn't even make it one day. It's totally disqusting. On a more possitive note the three I saved...

    bettas rescued plus problems.

thanks. Unfortunatly I don't think anything will help her. She looks terrible. I have maracyn 2 but I don't think it will help. Poor girl. I rescued her from walmart over a year ago. She was very sick but recovered. I found that when bettas are in bad condition when you get them they usually...

    bettas rescued plus problems.

Unfortunatly the female that was real fat has turned out to have dropsy. Her scales started sticking out yesterday. I there any hope of recovery or should I euthanize her before she really begins to suffer?

Actually I happen to have some frozen peas on hand. I am going to put her in her own hospital tank when I go home. Now she's sharing with the new tiny betta. From now on i'm not keeping any bettas, male or female in community tanks. They end up eating way too much!!

    The Poor Fish At Wal-mart

I'm just going to add my two cents because I just rescued two bettas from Walmart. Some say that it causes Walmart to buy more bettas and the problem continues but to see these 2 bettas on the shelf waiting to die was too much for me. there was one already dead. I just couldn't see these two...

    bettas rescued plus problems.

Ok. I had a betta that died recently of an undiagnosted problem. Then, in another tank, my Walmart rescue betta girl that I've had for a year was laying on the bottom of the tank. I decided that she wasn't feeling well as she wasn't eating. Normally she eats extremely well. I took her out to...

thanks for all the help. I thought for a moment he was getting better but then I found him in the morning dead. Poor guy.

    Whirling disease??

Yep, They were together, this is why I am worried. No other fish in the tank are sick as of now. I really think it's to late for the betta but he is still trying to live. I'll give him a couple more days maybe. Thanks for all the replies

    Whirling disease??

I'm thinking so. I also am afraid that any treatment as of now would have no effect. I hate to put this fish through anymore stress in his condition. It's so hard watching this poor guy waste away.

    Whirling disease??

It was a tetra that was swimming in circles. When he wasn't, he was just staying in one place. It wasn't chasing his tail type circles. It was more like a convulsion. after a while he starting wasting from not eating. I found the betta standing on his head one day. I put him in a hospital tank...

    Whirling disease??

The betta isn't really bent as in deformed, he is just hanging limp in the water. If he is disturbed he swims around on his side more or less. He's separated from the rest of the fish. This is terrible because I haven't had any problems in my tanks for a couple of years.

    Whirling disease??

Yep. That's the article I read that got me so worried. So now it stands, The fish may or may not have whirling disease. The tetra did swim in circles but showed no signs of deformity. I did read another article that said the disease could possibly be destroyed by using a UV sterilizer. I guess...

    Whirling disease??

Oh, I forgot to mention the symptoms. It was an albino black skirt tetra. It swam wildly in vertical circles, upside down, then would go back to normal. lt happened more and more until it started to waste away. I eventually had to euthanize it. the betta I found standing on his head. I put him...
