I doubt the color is for camouflage, if so rock/sand dwelling fish would be a more dirtier color, clownfish would match the anemone in color, and fish that swim aimlessly would be colored like a penguin.
Nothing scientific in what I said, just my opinion on something I have no prior knowledge to.
like what ski said, cct will be how bright it is (lumens) and ppfd will be how much of the light corals will utilize for photosynthesis (PAR). Times the efficiency by 10 and that is how much % of the wattage is used in light energy, the remaining is heat, everything else should be a given or...
Tampa bay saltwater for the best, albeit expensive, aquacultured live rock (more life than real REAL live rock, in the states at least), sea life inc. would be a close second (alternatively you could ask around for some second hand live rock). Or buy 5-7 pounds marco rock (which would equal...
THe easiest way would be to remove the rock, but keeping it submersed at all times, if its a small enough rock just put it in a bucket under water and then remove the bucket, then do it again vise versa into another tank. But then you would need to have food ready for when they hatch.
First...
depending on tank, and since you were caught off guard, id say the survival chance is almost 0.
Move them to a dedicated tank and prepare live phytoplankton and live rotifer cultures.
Thats why I love my urchin. Coralline in an acrylic tank is a bad thing, but so are certain urchins (luckily mine doesnt scratch the acrylic).
Check on it at night, I am pretty sure all urchins are nocturnal, (mine is, a blue tuxedo urchin).
All high powered light systems are used in grow houses, for ALL growable plants. You have to remember cannabis is nothing but a plant, and it requires the same things as other plants. So hydroponic grow houses growing lettuce would probably use the same light as hydroponic grow houses for...
In all respect to Ski, i know someone who can help you with what bulb other than him.
http://www.manhattanreefs.com/lighting
It has a calculator, plug in what your light is running on, and it will tell you the best bulb to use, as well as the levels of PAR other bulbs output.
Different...
Whoever told you that was pretty stupid, coralline will not nuke a tank, you need something like large dead anemone or a dead sea apple for a nuked tank.
Anyway, watts per gallon is stupid.
Skimmer? Carbon dosing?
I basically feed whenever I feel like it, at the most its live baby brine shrimp in the morning and a few pinches of pellet in the afternoon, or its only frozen mysis for the day, or its only pellets for the day etc. etc..
Thats around a 10 gallon, maybe less. Corals, yes you can have them, they can fit in almost any size tank (depending on species of course), fish, I'm not so sure, maybe a goby or two.
