I use AmQuel+ to treat the chlorine in my tap water, but nothing to remove the nitrates. Why is reading of 0 so unusual for nitrates, especially with a low bioload?

I use AmQuel+ in my 20g long and my nitrites and nitrates are both 0 ppm. It won't hurt anything, and may actually help.

I used biozyme to help cycle my tank, and I've also had problems with cloudy/milky water. I usually do small water changes daily, and I haven't noticed any clear up. Let me know if you find a solution.

You could also try BioZyme. I've heard good things about it, and I've used it in my own 20g tank with good results.

Perhaps I should clarify... 1. The ammonia did go up and then rapidly came back down. 2. Biozyme doesn't suppress the ammonia, nitrites, or nitrates. I've always seen very good reviews of the product, often equating it to BioSpira. 3. If I stop using the AmQuel what would I treat my tap...
