The book is on my night stand as I’m typing this. It was published by the Greater City Aquarium Society, of which I am a proud member.

    Roundtail Paradise Fish

Will do. They’re only about 1” to 1.5” at this point. I had a lot of success with the species a decade ago and am excited to be able to work with them again. They’re very rare in the hobby for some reason.

    Roundtail Paradise Fish

I won a bag of young Macropodus ocellatus at a local club auction the other day. They don't look like much now, but in a few months - wowza!

    Svengoolie

Zacherly was a staple at the Chiller Theatre convention in New Jersey until he was well into his 90s. His performance of “The Monster Mash” with house band The Dead Elvi was always a highlight.

I’ve been keeping and breeding them for years, in tanks as small as 10 gallons. Mine do very well in higher temperatures.

I’ve kept various types of reptiles over the years and my turtles always seemed to have something going on upstairs; snakes and lizards, not so much.

Tell me y'all's fish dreams 😄

I’ve dreamt about my fish leaving their tank and swimming through the air many times over the years.

Hitting the dwarf Cichlid wall (a sad tale)

They’re occasionally available in shops in the USA. A seller located in Florida regularly lists them on Aquabid.

Hitting the dwarf Cichlid wall (a sad tale)

The line-bred orange form of Etroplus maculatus, usually sold as “red chromides”, are a brilliant, unmarked orange. The wild type, even when in breeding condition, is a duller colored fish.

    Browsing at my LFS

I was shocked to find Indian Flying Barbs (Esomus danricus) at an LFS the other day. This was the first time I’d ever seen them in person in all my years in the hobby. Before then I’d only seen them in old books. That particular shop usually carries the standard assortment of fish but...
