Heaters for small (1 gal) tanks

I'll change the frequency of the water changes from once to 2x a week... hopefully that will help. Thanks for the tips, Orky... :) I picked up some QuICK Cure treatment at the store, too -- an ounce of prevention equals a pound of cure, right? ;)

Heaters for small (1 gal) tanks

That's what I thought, too... but in reading about preventing ick and other parasites, they say to keep the water heated at that level, and I can't seem to get it that high without leaving the lamp on all day. Is it dangerous to leave my betta under that much light all day? Sorry for the silly...

    Looking for info on "ich"

Hi -- sorry if this is just me being an unskilled newbie, but I can't get the search engine on the forum to retrun me any results on what exactly "ich" is -- how bettas get it, how to treat, prevention tips, etc. Any and all help/direction would be most helpful -- recco's, links, pics, etc...

    Strange spot on my betta

OK -- thanks for all the help... I tried the picture, but my camera couldn't get a good picture. I'll give him a water change and check out the heater/thermometer suggestion.

    food for bettas

Hi -- I switched from freeze-dried worms to pellets and it made a big difference. My bettas' tanks are definitely cleaner and they seem like they don't "miss" the food, since it takes longer to sink... the worms use to go down almost right away if they didn't get eaten.

    Strange spot on my betta

He seems to be his usual self... he's always been more docile than my other betta, but he seems to be swimming OK, and he ate his food right up. I'm new to the world of bettas, so any leads I can get would be helpful. I had an expert who I usually go to, but can't any more.

    Strange spot on my betta

One of my male bettas -- Mo -- has a strange silver/white spot just above and behind his right eye. Any thoughts on what it might be? I was away for the weekend and saw it last night when I was feeding him.
