sorry, it is a 10 gal tank...... now empty due to sick fish. Had just 1 male in there, so was trying to find something to put in to add a little more life to it. One was ok, but prefer to have more if possible.. FYI the one I have now is on his death bed, so he is out of the pic, starting out...

I just took a sick beta out of there and put him in a bowl.... I am going to put him out of his misery tonight.. ? is I realize that I need to clean the tank really good, but are you suggesting I clean the filter in that water?? How often do you have to clean it, how long should I cycle it...

I have read that when cleaning your filter-- I have a 10gal that came with the tank-- are you not to clean the actual filter? What if there is algea on it... I think I have made an opps as I have cleaned the whole thing! And what if I had a sick fish, shouldn't the filter be cleaned with clean...

no I did mean alive, but I thought the same thing, how cruel..... I guess I will go with the ice, hopefully when I get home he will have passed on his own. :rip: Barrack

UGGGGG, that makes me cringe... but I guess it's better than suffering while be sick. I will have to have boyfriend do it as I don't think I can.... don't have a problem flushing when dead, never had to put one out of there misery before. Any advice on what I should do next... re: tank, new...

so flush him :sick: or wait one more day and see if he seems better? Although his coloring is changing and looking real bad, guess it's just wishfull thinking... but really should I just flush him? He did try eating the other day.... but like I said he can't stay on top, but he didn't touch...

well he hasn't eaten for a couple weeks, it'll be ok to put him back in the tank-- stress level-- and why are his fins falling apart, I mean literally there was a strand of fin on the bottom of the bowl??? also the med I have now is for fish in bowl, so what do you suggest I get for 10 gal tank...

He was in a 10 gal, filtered, heated tank by himself. Have had him for a while. I just started the meds yesterday (beta-fix) I have switched to betta pellats, but he doesn;t eat anyway. I changed the water on Monday and checked the water levels on Tues, they were ok... of course could have been...

Can you put females together? Just preparing myself for what I should do/get next.... assuming my little guy doesn't make it, he is not doing well. Should I get a different breed? I would like something easy to take care of. I do love the looks of the male bettas but hate that you can't put them...

I called a lfs yesterday and they suggested that I put him in a smaller space, so I put him in a bowl and added some betta fix... last night noticed a piece of his fin on the bottom, this morning looked at him and he is turning grey/white in the face area........ I don't think there is much more...

I just read on another thread that a symptom of tb is bent spine.... I noticed this morning (since I am being much more observant after being on this site) that when my fish is sitting at the bottom he is almost curled out, then when he was sitting his spine looked bent, I thought maybe he broke...
