    Emperor Tetras

nice looking fish. not kept them personally but a quick google should throw up plenty of info, I've only really researched i.kerri . Had a good look at them today at my LFS, they are really quite striking. The little info I do have is they grow a bit bigger [8cm I saw on 1 site] and they prefer...

    Emperor Tetras

What type of Emperor Tetras are you after? 'Emperor Tetra' seems to be a common name given to a few similar looking species of tetra. For example there are Blue Emperors Tetras or Kerri Tetras inpaichthys kerri [have a google of the latin name lovely lovely fish] or there is Nematobrycon...

    New Pics Of My Tanks

Nick makes a very good point there. Bashing people over the head and jumping on them when they have made mistakes only discourages them and makes them inclined not to bother comming back meaning they potentially miss out on the help and the support that they can be offered by less judgemental...

    Platy Question

No probs. I'm a huge panda cory fan too. Just got 6 of them at the weekend and the young platy that is in the tank with them [not disimiliar colour] keeps trying to shoal with them, so funny to watch. :D

    Platy Question

Yeh. The only real difference visually between male and female platys is the gonopodium in males [their reproductive organ]. Females have a triangular anal fin, males a sword shaped gonopodium. Males also are slightly smaller than females when both are fully grown [still dosn't stop my male from...

    Platy Question

Spot on. You shouldn't have any troubles and hopefully no fry! Though you might find you get a couple of batches if they are already pregnant when you get them [often happens]. A single mating can result in multiple batches of fry so just keep an eye.

Lucky Enough To Hear My Croaking Gouramis Croak

Sorry only just seen your reply! I've had a good look, there's no nest as of yet, he is quite a young male [He's about 7 1/2 months old]. Because I got them from a private breeder I'm quite lucky to know their history, the male was about 6 months when I got him and I was told they were just...

    Platy Abuse

What sex are the 2 platys invloved here? If they are both male then I'm afraid the bullying is unlikely to stop as the bigger fish is asserting his dominance and right to breed with the other fish [I'm guessing they both female] and I'm afraid the only option [as stated above] is to get a rid...

    Odd Platy Behaviour- Ideas?

I have the 3 females to 1 male ratio as suggested. They are eating but they are not exactly going nuts for the food when I put it in like they normally do. The 'odd' platies are female, all 3 of the females have given birth within the last 10 days but only two seem to be exhibiting this...

    Odd Platy Behaviour- Ideas?

Two of my red wagtail platys are beahving very oddly. They are just restling listlessly on the bottom of tank, not especially moving that much much. Earlier all were fine then one started to hide behind the filter just hovering motionlessly at the surface. They do not appear to be gulping for...

Lucky Enough To Hear My Croaking Gouramis Croak

I have piccies on my home PC so I'll post some tonight. The male [the bigger fish] is about 5cm and the smaller fish [female] is about 3cm. I love them too, beautiful fish, very under appreciated because they are not flashy. Mine have beautiful blue neon eyes but no matter how hard I try I...
