Hiya The fish you're talking about are called hillstream loaches, and they do best in small groups. They're great to watch and fantastic at eating algae. I had three but two died then one just disappeared...think it must have died then got chewed up by the filter...anyway. I recommend them.

HI Don't know what other people make of this but the chappy at my LFS said to use bottled water, just check the Ph on the label, as it is purer. Just a thought. I'm sorry to hear about your babies dying, I'd be gutted, Have some of mine!!!!!!! Tara H

Hiya A couple of points, 1) shouldn't there be a small amount of nitrates present in the water??? 2) use sea salt from the supermarket, just make sure it's pure salt without anything else in it. 3) time consuming?? If 10 minutes is what you call time consuming God help you. Tara H

Hiya I use a small glass, like a shot glass, with no patterns on it, it makes it an awful lot easier. Plus if they next to a wall you just scoop them up and pour some water out. A net is to big and they can see it coming!!!! Hope this helps, I find this method really easy. Helen
