What kind of polishing pad is it? Also what is the flow like? The flow on my filter from the spray fires out with some force, make me think it maybe a faulty filter if yours works ok.

I did have the spray bar positioned at the back of the tank aimed against the back but under the water point upwards. Have you put the the polishing pad in the filter instead of the carbon, because I have replace the carbon with the extra sponge filter.
