So it turns out that my tank was leaking so I returned those bloodfins for 2 panda cories to finish my school in my big tank, so now I have to re-silicone my little tank. so thanks everyone for the input in a couple weeks i'll try again. :D
okay, so If tetra's are not a good fit, what would be a good fit for a 5 gallon tank? any suggestions would be welcome, I want to give these fish the best life I can. :D
thanks everyone, I ended up getting 3 bloodfin tetra's, I am very diligent with water changes and they seem to fit nicely in the tank, they all have lots of room it seems so I'll stick with them. Is three enough?
okay :) so danios are okay to put in a tank with shrimp I would hate for my adults to get eaten by the fish in the tank. And for filtration do shrimp like a lot of water movement or not, can they tolerate a current or not?
I have never had shrimp before so I am very curious. haha :D
okay so I just set up an old 5 gallon tank that I had lying around, I put my old filter media in the tank and now while I wait *sigh* I am looking into stocking suggestions. I really want to put in some red cherry shrimp and some fish. I was thinking a small shoal (6) of some type of tetra...
Okay thank you!! My dad borrowed my hospital tank for his class for a quick experiment He just needed a 5gallon container and that's what we had :P tomorrow he's bringing it home for me so ill put the 30 fry in there and then dose the tank. Thanks again :D
hey everyone :)
I have 8 platy fry in my tank but one of my mommas has a spot of ich, if I treat the tank will it kill the babies?
I have had ich before so I know what to do I am just not sure if my fry will survive the medication, they were just born yesterday...
thanks :)
I have been gone for a week, :S and now all the brown stuff is gone, replaced by a little bit of green algae, but I also found two pond snails in the tank so they will take care of that nicely :P thanks everyone
oh no I meant that gold fish are bad to cycle with if you don't want to keep goldfish in the long run :P, I want to do tropical fish, no gold fish for me :D
fish in, I never knew about fishless cycling until after I put fish in, thankfully I didn't let the LFS talk me into getting goldfish to cycle the tank :S
I had have a pretty severe ammonia spike the past week and a half, I have been doing 25% water changes everyday and testing every other day. ammonia was measuring at 7 and 8 ppm at the worst it is now rapidly declining but I've noticed that nitrite and nitrate are not rising, they are measuring...
perfect thanks :)
on a sad note my oto passed away, I guess with the ammonia spike he couldn't handle it. it's pretty sad he is the first fish that I have lost in setting up my new aquarium. the others are still going strong.
