I do not see any parasites, I also do not see any lumps under the skin, and no golden bits. Upon closer inspection with a torch the area almost looks as if it is torn away from the skin there.

It kind of looks like skin (not with scales) that has grown out. The other gourami does flick sometimes but not even as much as him, and usually hits the water surface right after he does almost as if mimicking him.

He does dart and sometimes hits the top of the water hard enough to splash. He does occasionally rub that side but it is not persistent. No red streaking, and no obvious normal signs of ich. (no little sugar like crystals on his body). The thing just behind his fin looks like a...
