My second round of tests have come back with very similar results: Ammonia 0.25 Nitrite 0 Nitrate between 0 and 5.0 it's only very slightly orange. I have made sure to give the Nitrate a very good shake up as per instructions.

Thanks for the suggestions, I did discuss tank size with the shop when purchasing and nothing was mentioned about the Danios. I will look into the Gouramis next time I'm near the shop. The bulldog plec looks good if I can find one....... Does anyone know if they would be well suited to my tank?
