Not in a position where I can "do" larger tanks just yet, but I've toyed with the idea of taking one of my small tanks (previously inhabited by reptiles or terrestrial inverts) and turning it into a small planted invert habitat, maybe shrimp, or crabs, crayfish...however it seems like it might...

Thing is I'm not equipped to grow anything that's picky. No good lights, and I've got a little 2.5g betta tank with a gravel bottom. Whole reason I wanted java moss was cause it was easy to deal with.

I just took off the rocks anchoring it..it actually doesn't want to float. It kind afluffed up a little bit but its still sitting on the bottom Edit- I've also read this plant needs bright light and is hard to care for..is this true?

I can't tell if it's growing or not at this point. It's still green and certainly hasnt gotten any WORSE looking, but it's extended itself a bit. It has roots though and was apparently planted in mud before it got to me, should I still float it? Right now it's anchored to the bottom of my betta...

Oh and just so everyone knows, in situations like this you WILL get the bone from Paypal. They don't care if you got an empty box, if you recieved A PACKAGE AT ALL your complaint gets instantly closed.

That looks VERY similar to what i have right down to the "clumpy" nature of the plants. Wonder how they'll grow in a gravel tank..we shall see!

I've already fired off a "WTF" email to the seller; if I don't see a tracking number in the next 2 days with what I actually paid for, he's getting a complaint on aquabid and I plan on initiating a report on paypal to try and get my money back.

So, I won an auction for a 5x7 piece of java moss on aquabid, and the seller (name witheld, for now) finally sent me a little ball of green a fraction of the size of what was promised. However I'm pretty sure this isn't java moss.....anyone hazard a guess as to what it is i've ended up with?
