so these unusual structures ( a pair of pagodas ) were added to this tank, to give a visual feel to the theme of this tank, but their size and shape have become very useful to the fish... the roof section, has become a veritable garden being closer to the surface, and the lights... the legs give...

been two days, since the supplier reassured me they had the lacortei, and was going to double check to guarantee, and since, no reply... guessing the 686 lacortei, turned into palmeri, and likely a much lower number, as that seems like an awful lot of them, even for a big name supplier...

so, on the palmeri, males have blue eyes, and females green eyes, so on that fish, that's what I can tell... the lacortei, which is a very similar fish, that I've been trying to get, at least the males have red eyes, not sure if there is a sexual difference there, but eye color, doesn't seem to...

My South American tetra tank, has fish with blue eyes, green eyes, and red eyes, my Denison barbs have an orange / red continuation of their body streak, that goes through their eyes, I can think of, but don't own any fish with golden eyes, and black eyes... and really what color are lamp eye...

if you think about the old fluorescent lights for aquariums, lots had a lot of red/ blue spectrum light, and were on all day... the new LED's we can adjust, but I think typical sun rise / sun sets use those colors, but mid day's seem to be mostly white lights... wonder if that is healthier for...

interesting... the Denison Barbs seem to be thriving in my bright Hillstream tank, and being highly marked, seem to have no issues out in the open, in that brightly lit tank, but do spend about 50% of the time in the shade of the pagodas, either under them in the space created by the legs, or...

so, fish are found in nature, from sunny spots, to deep shade, and aren't really exposed to funny un-natural colors, and for example, I had an aquarium LED light that was failing, and started flickering... it was driving me nuts, so I stopped using it... assuming if the flickering light was...

So interestingly Jack Wattley lists a lot of the lacortei, I contacted them, & they will guarantee the correct species... for what ever that is worth... as they are the seller, that sent me the larger earth eaters, for cupids, so I may ask for pictures, before they ship...

my medium sized kisser, may eat young shrimp, however I have several adult cherries, that have been in that tank for close to a year

so, I have been wanting to add some Nematobrycon lacortei to my South American Tetra tank, my last, ( 2nd ) attemp I ordered a dozen of them, only to wait and have them mature, to find out, that of 12, none of them were lacortei... they aren't often listed, but recently I saw them listed again...

they are close enough, you could pick them up, and save on the shipping???
