it depends how deep the sand is, and it does happen. wile moving a few plants ive had a load of bubbles come up out of the sand and the gas stunk.

what media do you have currently? if its the eheim stuff you dont need to replace it. only the white pad. personally i would stick to the standard eheim stuff i run it in all my filters and the water is always crystal clear.

mines been like it for years, nothing is cracked an its worse than your one. so dont think much to worry about :)

just use an old credit card, works loads better

it wont make any difference, set the temp to what you want it at, all it will do is warm up the water quicker, the thermostat will keep it to tht temp. will prob use less electric as wont need to be on. i have a 150w inline heater on a 25litre tank with no issues.

plants dont care what colour the bulbs are :)

"highlite" is just juwels name for the t5's, nature,colour etc are just different colour temperature bulbs they are all 45w

doesn't make any difference, choose which one you prefer the colour of.
