Hi
So placing the in and out right next eachother is ok because the inflow is at the top of the tank and the out is at the bottom?
Regarding an overflow box, I don't have experience of these other than the quick Google ive just done on them. Im hoping to keep the equipment as discrete as...
Just a quick update on how the new top is coming on. Will put some photos up soon. Decided to go with 12mm ply. I got the basic frame done a few weekends ago and realised I'd made a total ass of it so pulled it all apart and started again. Im no carpenter so kinda learning as I go. Now I have...
Hi
I'm nearly finished building my new top section for my tank after getting so far and realising id made a total mess of it and deciding to start again. I now need to start thinking about cut outs in the right positions for equipment. I already have a glass lily pipe outflow and had intended...
Hi
Yeh you're right. Everyone has something different and as long as it give each of us enjoyment, that's all that matters. You just need to look on here at the contest winners. So many different styles. Some not my taste but you have to appreciate the work and passion that's gone into each and...
Hi Mark
Yes I thought about something like this for the inner structure and then wood on the soutside to match other wood furniture in the room. Decisions decisions.
Hi Metalman. Lol. Yes, I have 3 of these placed strategically around the house. He hates getting scooshed but never actually learns anything g from the punishment. If the bottle is just sitting there, it doesn't frighten him. Only if one of us is holding it. Should have name him Damien instead...
Hi everyone
Just posting to say hi. I joined the forum I think about 10 to 15 year ago when starting out. How time flies.
This site and all you good people was where I gained most of the info I needed as a newbie keeping tropical fish.
I still have the same tank, a 90 litre Fluvial which...
Hi all
I've not been on here for years. Started fishkeeping about 15 years ago and this site was invaluable when I was starting up.
I've stripped down a tank and currently cleaning it ready for a new scape. As part of this, I'm going to build a whole new hood. I need the whole set up to be...
Thanks for the reply.
Regarding flow rate I gather its important to eradicate dead spots and the flow rate should be increased until this is achieved? For example, your aquarium may have no dead spots at 10x whereas my tank may have a different layout and require 15x before there are no dead...
Hi
As I mentioned in my previous thread, I'm about to strip my my tank and start again going high tech with a good substrate, co2 and new LED lighting. I've been buying everything I need but still need to buy a list of things and some of them I'm still researching.
I wonder if anyone could...
Yeh, I think I'll use the soil on its own and see how I go. I see ADA have some new products available that can be added later so that gives me options.
That's about £60 saved. Now to see what other savings I can make.
Cheers
Yeh, that's the thing, i can't really afford it. I really want it though. I'd costed it up as follows:
ADA bacter 100 £19
super clear £19
power sand £22
Amazonia Aqua soil 9l £28
Amazonia powder 3l £18
I wonder how successful a substrate it would be if I just got the aqua soil and power and...
Hi everyone,
Just a quick introduction. I've been fish keeping for about 4 years now and have learnt a lot but still learning. Aren't we all? I have a Fluval Roma 90 which is planted but although I've dabbled I don't use co2. I'm currently in the middle of doing up the aquarium completely and...
Hi
I'm slowly but surely buying up everything i need for upgrading my 90 litre freshwater tank. I've spent a couple of hundred so far and have just totalled up everything left on my list and need another £450.
I've therefore decided to look into what savings can be made and I think one of the...
