    Jewel Automatic Feeders

I bought an auto feeder for a holiday last year and now I use it all the time. As I generally feed granuals then Algea wafers late with lights out I went for the Eheim Twin Automatic feeder which has two food hoppers. You can program upto 3 different feed cycles per hopper per day. You can...

    Water Changes In Big Tanks

I use a 12V submersible pump powered by a 240/12V transformer with an inline switch. http://www.lvmshop.co.uk/lvm-pumps/lvm141-lvm-niagara-pump-12v.htm Drop the pump in the tank then have a length of hose through the lounge window into an outside drain. I then bring buckets into the lounge...

    Background Problems

Mine is what the seller describes as the "Basic" background. Most of it is an inch or so thick but he more curved sections are a couple of inches out. The furthest part is the bottom of the tree root effect which sticks out about three inch. The seller has Basic, Rock, Rock and Root, and Amazon...

    Background Problems

Towards one end low down there are two holes built into the rock effect that are meshed to prevent fish getting through but not so fine as to prevent general debris and waste being sucked through. There's also a 5-10mm gap down the sides that are meshed to give water flow. Not noticed any...

    Background Problems

The one I purchased is a free standing resin background, it doesn't need any glue or fixing. Just move your sand or gravel forward, drop the background in ensuring you don't trap any fish behind it and then smooth your gravel or sand out and job done. At the ends there is meshing to stop fish...

    Background Problems

After years of trying different methods to stick on backgrounds I ordered a 3D internal background and fitted it a few days ago. I'm very pleased with the results. Cheers Lee

    Hello, Just Joined.

Thanks for the comments. The tank is only a modest 4' Juwel Rio 240, removing the internal filter and fitting the 3D background has made a big difference. Here's how the tank looked a few years ago. The loaches range between 5"-9", my 26 year old one is the smallest and has a misshaped tail...

    Recommend Me A 4 Footer.

We've had five Juwel tanks in the family and I've been impressed with the quality so far. The internal filter systems are OK if you have a low stock levels but the replacement sponges are expensive but the filters are easy to remove if you upgrade to or have an external system. 4 footers you...

    Hello, Just Joined.

Hi Everyone, Just joined but I've kept tropical fish for nearly 30 years, I'm 41 :hyper: so started early with my Dad. I've had quite a few different setups, my latest tank a Juwel Rio 240 I bought around 5 year ago but after a few water quality issues earlier this year I upgraded and fitted...

Best Way To Remove Juwel Internal Filter

Removed mine a few days ago. Did it with a sharp kitchen knife, ensuring the tip was clear of the tank glass seals I cut through the top two blobs. Once the top two blobs were cut then just pulling the top away released the two bottom blobs. Cheers Lee
