Dreadful Tank For Sale At Tesco

Like Walmart in that it is a supermarket that sells a wide range of products. It's a rival of Asda (Britians branch of Walmart). Staff are supermarket staff without additional training needed for selling specialised products (no disrespect intended towards the staff, it's managements fault as...

    Sponge Filters.

Have a look here http://www.pennplax.com/Pages/Aqua.pages..../Aqua27F.html It's an air powered filter system, more than the basic sponge type. A cross between a sponge filter & a milti-sponge (Juwel etc.) type with powerhead. Should be ideal for a fry tank as well as a small community tank...

Dreadful Tank For Sale At Tesco

This tank only holds 0.98gals US (0.82gals UK). Is is only big enough for use as a fry tank, hospital tank for small fish etc. Is should not be sold in shops where you can pick one up with the cornflakes etc. unless there is someone there who can give full advise on it's use. It done this way...

    Focus On Fish Article.

Haven't read the article fully as yet but isn't this how life is going. Too many people want to ban/enforce things because they don't like them the way they are, because of the compensation culture that is ever growing in many countries or just for the wrong reason. With animal...

Yellow Table Lamp For Small Fry Tank

You didn't comment on the filter. What type, is it clean & working? I believe that for plants a stronger white light that covers the light spectrum that the plants require. A yellow light may not be providing the ideal conditions for plant growth and this could be causing/assisting algea bloom...

Yellow Table Lamp For Small Fry Tank

Is your filter working ok? Are you changing the water 2 or 3 times a week. I find with my fry tanks I need to hover the bottom to clear uneaten food most days & sometimes even 2 a day. This means the tank get a partial water change upto 6 times a week but I still do at least 10 - 15% change...

    Losing Fish

Don't know if it's your big rainbow fish but I lost several healthy looking fish when a male swordtail started bullying all the fish. I got 3 females to try & carm him down but he killed then in a couple of days. He then started where he would attack new fish when they were in the floating bag...

Out Of Your Fish What One Are You Most Attached To?

Your brisslenose can't be like mine then. I have two & I honestly believe that even if they were the only 2 fish in a barebottomed tank with no plants or ornaments they'd still be able to hide -_- I haven't got 1 favorite, I like them all equally.

    Water Change Frequency

I do 10 - 15% each week, Regardless of nitrate levels. I think the water looks cleaner & seems 'fresher'. I think the fish are entitled to a clean, fresh environment as in the wild they have a water change every second of the day (in rivers), perhaps not as often in lakes but as there is...

Male Platie With A Gravid Spot?

Nope, nothing to worry about. Both males & non-pregnant females often have a dark or black patch that looks like a gravid spot. When a female is pregnant this spot gets much larger and extends further towards the tail.

Angel Fish Suffering-what Type Of Euthanisa To Use?

Don't know how much this will help you decide. As a game fisherman I have often dispatched trout in the normally accepted way of hitting the on the head with a 'priest'. I use a priest that is much heavier than the normal ones sold and can give the fish a good hard blow because of it's longer...

Rubber Bands On Siphon In Tank

My local garden centre/lfs sells ridgid plactic tubing in various diameters. I got a couple of different sizes to fit my 6mm & 10mm syphon tube. The thin one is ideal for fry tank as suction is low reducing the risk of syphoning them out. About £2 per meter length.

    Fry Tank (filter)

Follow this link. http://www.fishandfins.co.uk/algarde-biofo...rium-filter.htm I use them and find them great & the fry will even swim up to them and eat the food that is draw onto the sponge. As the flow is gentle & all around the sponge there seems to be no danger of even the smallest fry...

This Is One To Get You All Thinking.....

One thing that needs to be born in mind (which I didn't see in other posts) is water & computers don't mix well. Remember that when you change water you will have to be careful not to spill any (and keep your fingers frossed the tank doesn't leak :hyper: ).
