Hi there, can anyone help...we have a water softener and always draw the water for waterchanges outside as it does not go through the softener. But winter is going to be a little hard as the outside tap always freezes up. (Canadian winters eh) So what can I do...will the water from my inside...

Can anyone help I have this dark hairy fuzzy stuff growing on my filter pipes, rocks and the edge of some of my plants. What can this be? Is it a form of algae? If I know what type I can probably find out how to treat it....or even better if anyone of you guys knows how. If you can help me...

Good Idea about floating bottle of frozen water...I will put one in the freezer right away. My fish are tinfoils, balas, gourami's a small catfish and teeny golden algae eater.
