    Stocking A 35l Arc Tank

After 48 hours the temperature is 19-20C, is that warm enough for any small sub-tropical species?

    A Pets Story

Very touching and beautifully written. If only something like this was given to those getting / considering a new pet, especially young animals. Circumstances may change, but your pet's needs should always be a priority.

What Type Of Fish Would You Keep In This Lol

A few livebearers - wouldn't have to worry about the fry not having places to hide.

    Stocking A 35l Arc Tank

My OH has recently bought this tank and with my experience of trying to point out an overstocked tropical tank before, I decided to make sure I firmly tackle the issue before any fish are bought. I've already pointed out any goldfish is a complete no go, as they don't want to think about...

    Help! Unknown Bug...

The tank is next to the dinning room table though, so it's not very nice the thought of them all jumping around! We're doing a large water change on Friday, so hopefully will shift most of them out. If it is something harmful I'll soon find out, as they fry in breeder were getting quite good at...

    Help! Unknown Bug...

Yes! They never seem to be 'in' the water just on top of it and jump quite high. They're all white and the platy fry seem to enjoy eating them if they catch one before it jumps! It's hard to say what they look like as they're too small, just hoping they don't increase in number!

    Help! Unknown Bug...

Today I've noticed what look like bugs on the surface of the tropical tank. They're white and jump on the surface. Will they cause a problem and what's the best way to get rid of them? If it helps they could have somehow been transferred from our pond? Thanks for any help, I'm useless when...

    Bo Is Ill, Please Help!

I'm sorry for your loss, keep close all of your lovely memories through this difficult time. Be comforted by the fact she left peacefully and did not seem ill for long. Sounds like she was a lucky girl and had a brilliant life. RIP. :(

    Flying Fox Eats Pregnant Platy

I agree, the fish could have died from the stress - my one platy casualty was when she was also pregnant. Had she been trying to hide quite a lot beforehand?

    New Hamster, How Long....

Well I am leaving my Syrian for 2 and a half months, I'll see if she still recognises me afterwards. ;)

    New Hamster, How Long....

Good luck! Some hamsters will never calm down as such, my current hamster spent the first 6 months I had her running around like crazy. Sometimes getting them out of the cage in a small bowl helps and then feed them some treats on your lap so they begin to associate you with something positive...

    Bo Is Ill, Please Help!

Is her behaviour still normal (apart from less activity)? For instance drinking more water than usual. If she has seemed ill for three days already then it is more likely to be something other than wettail especially as there is no reason for her to have this. "Gummy eye" is most probably the...

    Advice: Inbreeding Platy

Thanks! We've managed to get a Micky Mouse Red Platy, so hopefully her fry will give us more Micky Mouse tails with a variety of colours. :)

    Selling Platies

It isn't that platy fry will survive in a well planted tank - it is that there is a possibility. I've had fry in the main tank for several days and they hide in plant cover or little hidy-holes. I won't see a fry for a week and then they'll appear. Definitely ring fish stores, we have two...

    Fry Grow Out

The maximum time I'd leave them in a breeder is 5-6 weeks, but a few of my slow growers have stayed in my breeder for 8 weeks without problem as the water is constantly moving through my net and the main tank. They may be safe before that time comes - depends how big the biggest fish is in the...
