How long does it take for Nimbochromis venustus (giraffe) to mature? I bought 2 last August at 1 inch long. They are probably about 3-4 inches now. I dont see any blue heads yet, but I was told it takes them 1.5 years to mature? Im just eager to see if I have a breeding pair!!!

My LPS backed out on our original agreement of 1 inch in order to buy my baby kenyi. Now she wants them 1.5 inches. There are currently in a 10 gallon tank. I do 50% water changes and feed them frequently. With this care they have grown pretty fast. My question is, can I get these guys to grow...

My Aces bred last october and johannis breed 2 months ago. Those were both their first. Since then they have not bred again. My Kenyi female on the other hand has had 2 batches just in the last month!!!! Another question...I have to kenyi females and one male. The male keeps breeding with one...

I feed mine shrimp in the am, flake at noon, and flake at night. I also do 50% water changes every day. They seem to be growing pretty fast.

Tank might be too small. Snails in there might not be a good idea, but I am no expert. I have been told that it does take a couple times for the mosha to get the hang of it.

As long as you rinsed the sand really good before placing it in the tank, it should clear up in a few days. Mine took a little over a week if I remember right. I kept doing 20% water changes everyday until it finally cleared up.

Could possibly be lack of oxygen, or they might be too cold. Is your ph and all those other ok?

Im sorry that your fishies are having some trouble. Have you checked all your water properties like PH, ammonia, salt, nitrate, nitrite and all? We had a pond fish slim death because one of our water properties (I think ph or ammonia) was really high.

We used to feed crickets to the ones in the pet stores

Hey thats a nice tank in my opinion. By the way, I used pool filter sand and had no problems.
