The yeast and sugar react to create a gas (CO2). The pressure of this gas will build in the container and it will be forced out through the path of least resistance -- which will hopefully be your airline!
I was able to find this info on the web:

Looks like you'll need to know exactly what species you'll be brining in, and it appears to be a paperwork nightmare. I personally wouldn't recommend it, but good luck!
I'm facing a similar dilema...personally I'm planning on moving the oto cats I currently have in my 6 gal into a 20 gal (and probably adding some tetras with them in the 20) next week. For the empty 6 gal I'll be left with, I'll probably get a single betta and maybe some shrimp.
If up-sizing...
Well...I seem to have found the cause of what is "growing" in my tank. I just did a water change and gave the roots a closer inspection. It seems that the cause was stupidity. Thats right, I'm an idiot.
All that it was is the spongy material that the grass came rooted too. When I got it I...
Can anyone tell me what is growing on some of the roots of my grass? Its the brown and slimy looking stuff that is around the bottom of the grass. Is this harmful? Can I treat it or should I just pull the grass out?

Thanks Wilder. The poor guy didn't make it through the night...I'm just glad he didn't suffer long.
I plan on continuing to treat the tank for internal parasites incase this is what caused the problem. If it is bacterial, do I need to worry about the others in the tank?
I've been...
