Um dunno I thought that in day it uses CO2 and at night it uses oxygen, like all plants.

So is there anything i can do to encourage algae? Or is there a way of growing it seperate from the tank?

Is there anyway that i can safley encourage algae growth? My new pair of ottos are going to be finished the algae in my tank in probably less than a week and im wondering if there are any simple way to encourage more algae to grow. I have algae wafers if i need them but i'd prefer real algae...

Yea i have a cave which provides 2 or more hiding places, a large bushy plant which must provide a good amount and also a small red plant in the corner which provides the best hiding place.

I think you can do a vinigar test. Pour some on the rock and if it fizzes then its harmful to fish.

As far as i can tell, the tetras are probably the smallest fish, so i guess its normal for them to be shy. And im sure that betta is going to be a little problematic aswell.

Dont put neons in with your betta. They will rip its fins to shreds :/

Is it okay to feed a betta on just freeze dried bloodworms? I just read it can give them a big stomach. But what if i feed him a pea every now and again also, plus some brine shrimp.

Give them a pea or two. I take a frozen pea and put it into boiling water for 5-10 minutes. The i de-shell it and mush it up and put it in my tank. The platies wrestle it to the ground, and the neons eat up the scatterd debris, while my pygmy corys eat the small leftovers. =] This adds fibre...
