No artificial ammonia at all.. the plants didn’t survive only because when adding the new water to the tank it destroyed the roots and broke apart the aquatic plant.

I agree, definitely over thinking this... i just freaked out when the ammonia level was 4.0 i had live plants in it but not long enough they too got destroyed through the water change . Lol i am a freak i just sit in my apartment looking into the fish tank. But nevertheless i get up and try again...

I just dumped the water and started over. I kept 10% of the water the betta fish didn’t survive the temperature change ... i am not going to give up .. its all a learning experience for me. But this is even more dedicated than a ****ing cat... kind of have to be a MAD scientist in order to get...

I waiting nervously for the bio filter to kick in but i have never got a reading of ammonia this high before ammonia 4.0: the ph was 6.6 : nitrites 0 , and nitrates 0: will my bio filter kick in soon! I don’t see how i am suppose to feed a beta fish once a day if this food is making ammonia...

Test results as of now! PH = 6.8 AMMONIA = 1.0 ppm NITRITE = 0 ppm NITRATE = 0 ppm I have used a little proper ph and a little ammo lock a week ago.... now that u have said not to use any yet i am not going to use anything yet! But i will get some good bacteria at the store...
