    Stocking ideas!

The only hard water catfish I can think of is the dwarf lake synodontis/pygmy leopard catfish (synodontis petricola), but like pictus they prefer a group of 4 or more. Beautiful fish if you can get hold of them.

    Covering for my filter

Haven't tried filter floss personally, I have previously used filter sponge to great effect.

    Internal filter and cloudy water

I agree that the soil could be at fault but could it not also be down to the livestock load being added so quickly. 22 fish in a tank that is only 4 weeks old, seems rather quick to me. Also by rough working 60L is approx 13 gallons, so doing a 2 gallon water change weekly (15%) with that level...

How do you wash your filter sponges (what water do you use)?

Will do, in the mean time feel free to message me here.

Tell me about your dream tank

Plant wise I'd keep it simple, few different echinodorus, cryptocoryne, Anubias, java ferns on driftwood and amazon frogbit up top. Maybe a couple of crinum and nymphaea for impact. Livestock would definitely be a large school of smaller fish such as tetras and a few platinum blue angels to...

    South American Community Advice Please

I do rate aqua fish highly, they tend to be quite quick with replying via Facebook messenger if that helps. I know people who have had disease and quality issues at maidenhead Ferring (ich, internal parasites and fin rot to name a few) which is why I've steered clear of them. I have heard...

    Questions? Advise please

Snailpocolypse is right about the top fish looking like a killifish. I think it may be one of the nothobranchius variety but not 100%, may be worth posting those pics in the killifish section as I'm sure someone will be able to confirm whether it is a nothobranchius or not.

    South American Community Advice Please

Generally I recommend API kits, they do make a KH and GH water test kit. Personally I don't use maidenhead aquatics for livestock as I don't think they are the greatest. If you want healthy, happy fish at very resonable prices I'd suggest going to Aqua fish on Bowness Avenue in Lancing...

    South American Community Advice Please

Hi Edward, I'm in the same kind of area (Southwick for me), the results from southern water are generalised in my experience. It might be worth testing your water yourself to give yourself a real picture. Also do you know which store you are likely to buy from?

    Corys

Should have mentioned African Cichlids require different water parameters (hence why I haven't kept them yet), was just trying to answer the question 'what are cichlids?' So that Barney kirk would have a rough idea of what to look for on SF. Also, I'm not personally all that into cories so...

Tankmates for Rainbow Shark and Hatchetfish

The 2 smallest species of rainbowfish that I know of are Threadfin Rainbowfish (iriatherina werneri) and Dwarf rainbowfish (Melanotaenia maccullochi). Threadfin get to about 1.5 inches with dwarfs getting up to about 2.8 inches.

    Zebra Pleco

If they were going for £40 I'd be buying a few and making a profit.

    Zebra Pleco

Sorry tekfish, mine was supposed to say £140, didn't realise I'd missed the 1 until I read your post.
