thats great thanks guys will keep at it, and the plec is a tiny bristlenose plec, about the size of my thumb, not grown at all and had him for 7/8 months now

its a 100l tank and its mostly tetras and one plec in it, so not overstocked ( made sure i didnt overstock as i knew ammonia would go through the roof and kill the wee guy) u think 2 water changes a week will help or more??

hey guys I done my water test again as recommended and I got totally different results compared to last time, here's the stats PH -7.4, Ammonia - 0.25ppm, Nitrite - 0ppm and Nitrate- 10ppm , no more deaths as yet and fish all seem ok, so where do I go from here, keep changing water regular?? thanks

Thanks again, I'd say about 60% of the substrate is covered with live plants, I done a water test today (I have an API liquid test kit) and all is still coming up as zero, and ph 7, I understand about the water changes now but I don't understand why my test kit says that everything is at zero...
