I've been contemplating setting up another small tank...However, as I plan to have plants and cories, neither do well in salt.
I am feeling slightly paranoid about parasites and pathogens breeding in the tank and was wondering what's the best way to fight them off if I'm not using aquarium salt?
A manager at my LFS recommended slicing an orange and leaving it for the fish...not only does it provide them with Vitamin C but the Vitamin C component does a good job at removing ammonia.

A good rule of thumb to bear in mind is ONE GALLON (3.8L) of WATER PER INCH of FISH. I.e.: Most guppies are between one and 1.5 in long, therefore you should make sure each has about the equivalent of water.
Generally, if you follow this rule your fish should live without too much pollution...
