Hi Five weeks into a cycle - ammonia has been clearing within 12 hours after the second week - the nitrite is presently taking 16hrs (ish) but making progress slowly in the right direction. Tested the ammonia last night and it was still high (a slight drop from 5ppm) and has not dropped much...

Thanks for the replies guys The nitrite's are off the scale - i've not tested the nitrates yet as was going to wait for the nitrites to drop then do water change (the tanks only been converting Ammonia in 12 hrs for the past three days) So my plan of action to make sure! test for nitrates...
