thank u all for ur kind words and advice. i did a 50% water change removed my dead betta and plan to take some tetra out.

rinsed it out with water, i just remembered i clean the glass with windex (glass cleaner) but i only use a little on the outside

thx for the response....i already fixed the filter problem with some screen around the intake...is it possible the strong flow killed the betta? and should i take some of the tetra out?

cleaned the tank everything in the tank is new, ran the tank for a month while i cycled it.

ive had the fish for a little over a week...any idea whats killing them?

tank specs: new tank i got from a friend, fully cycled the tank myself 30 gal tank 405 Fluval filter (canister) heater (78 degrees F) plenty of air 2" of sand for substrate with 1/2" of pebbles under sand. fish: dead - 3 neon tetra 1 male betta (my sons favorite :byebye: ) 1 khuli loach...

sorry P.S. I have approx 2" of sand and all the plants (except the floating mos balls) are planted in the sand...is this bad or good...if bad what plants need to be planted differently. thx :good:

Hey, I have a 35 gal tank i got off a friend. right now i stripped it down and currently just finished a fishless cycle. I have a 1" layer of round pebble like gravel, covered by a 1" layer of play sand. I have 6 live plants....ferns (i can get the names if needed) and a tetra HOB filter...

Hey thx for the info I was looking at getting a canister filter for sure. I looked at the tetra tec EX1200 but I found it almost impossible to get one in the US. So I was thinking about a the Marineland C-360.
