A lot of keepers are really into over filtration, absurd to me in many cases. I took an Aquaclear 70 off my 75 as the flow was so strong, it was ravaging my plants. IMO I think a single Aquaclear 50 and a 30 gallon sponge would be ideal..... in addition to consistent weekly water changes...

Try to locate and participate in a local aquarium club. Even if you have to travel a bit, it will be well worth it..... Most have regular monthly meetings with speakers and auctions. And do not just attend once, encourage him to attend regularly and get to know people with similar interests...

Every fish keepers NIGHTMARE..... While they are still quite expensive, whole house generators provide a lot of comfort in knowing you are covered. Glad you weren't affected.
