Hi guys. My cuckoos are at the stage where they're about to be breeding. Can anyone recommend a good mbuna that will be able to get a few gulpfulls of baby catfish?
Basically i'm after an outgoing (and colourful) fish that won't hide all the time, that can breed my cuckoos.
Cheers!
go for it mate you'll never go back. especially with people like KJ helping you out. check out her cichlid journal! it convinced me to get some africans!
even give melanchromis auratus a shot! The females look better than the males IMO!
Good luck!
Check out the following photos. 2 or 3 of my Ps. Saulosis that I recently bought have a bit of damage... Their dorsal fins are ripped as are their (anal?) fins as shown in the photos. Also one has what looks to be a bit of a white eye. One has a black blotch just behind her gills on one side...
Here are some new macro shots. Any verdict on their quality?
^my dominant male i going through his transformation. notice the "dirty" marks on his upper half?
^the bottom (in focus) fish here looks dirty. is this a sign of poor quality?
^the kids :)
^regardless of their quality, they're...
cheers! ha yeah i think it is a montly thing because my tank is definitely not the best freshwater tank on the site.
well i bought them from my mate (who got me into the hobby) and he has been breeding ONLY these guys with the pundamilia nyererei so i trust him... should see how they breed soon...
AOS: they're actually synodontis multis
which fish look bad quality. i have no ability to judge quality and i had a feeling that they might not come from the best breeder because my LFS is a bit dodgy.
please let me know so i can take them back or something.
i feel sick inside now knowing...
thanks rick thats some of the most valuable information i've heard in a while.
i already want to get a 6x2x2 but there's just no room unless i go garage, which is outdoors and here in melbourne it gets down to about 2degC in winter and up to 43degC in summer so i don't think it's viable at all...
hi mate i can't say either way but i personally prefer malawis for their obvious beauty.
I've got about 30kgs of rock in my 3ft and as long as you sit it right on the bottom of the tank and then pour the sand/gravel on after, you'll be right. this stops the (non stop) digging of the cichlids...
^before i took out the p. nyererei. this was the most developed guy :)
^one of the little girls (i hope) eating some peas!
^shot from the front
^weeeeeeeeee
^angle shot
^they sure aren't camera shy...
^at all
^... more of the same
^ and again
^ my most developed male. you can...
