Sorry for the late reply-- I was out of town for a few days. I don't think the bulge is getting bigger, though there's a white fluffy thing on the tip. Is this possibly a fungus? I'll see what I can do about the extra/bigger filter.

eh, i wouldn't really recommend lettuce straight from the fridge. it's probably too tough for the fish to eat. if you blanch the lettuce for a minute or two, it'll be nice and soft-- they'll eat it up in no time. :)

you will most likely not see your goldfish grow significantly in one month's time. i would keep the goldfish in the 30 gallon tank and move your other fish into the 29 gallon tank-- this way the goldfish will not have to be stressed because of a move (besides, there is only a one gallon...

the male guppy may have eaten the baby fish if you put him in the same tank as them.

all plants produce oxygen. typically when they are very healthy, they will pearl which is when you can see the actual oxygen bubbles escape the leaves and float to the top of the tank. i don't see any nutrient-rich substrate in your tank nor do i see sufficient lighting. your plant needs these...

i have platties in my planted tank. they nibble on the algae at times, but in terms of a main algae-eating source they are not effective. i think most fish will nibble algae. the only specific recommendations i can give are siamese algae-eaters and chinese algae-eaters. :)

hello lisalisa, i feed my goldfish sinking pellets twice every day. i feed frozen brine shrimp once or twice a month, dried gammaru shrimp occassionally, blanched romaine lettuce once every 1-2 weeks, and boiled unshelled peas at least once a week. i have fed my goldfish daphnia a few times...

it could be that his fin only got nipped by another fish. this happens with my platties from time to time (but not as much as it used to happen, thank goodness). it's nothing to worry about; the fin will probably grow back in no time! :)
