    Live Food And Bugs

What about greenflies? They would have to be harvested from plants that are non-toxic themselves, and have not been sprayed for at least four weeks. Alternatively isolate a pot plant in the house, and transplant a few from the garden. Harvest as available. I don't know if this would work, but it...

    Api Master Test Kits

I started by using the Colombo Testlab Professional. However after consistently getting zero ammonia results after adding 3ppm ammonia daily for about five days, I realised that the results must be rubbish, so bought a JBL Ammonia test kit, and guess what - the results were off the scale, 95%...

    Water Conditioners

Thanks for everyone's replies. I ran the 35 Litre tank for a week to let the Ph stabilise before I added Aqua+. My tapwater has a Ph which fluctuates between 7.2 and 7.6 but there is very little buffering capacity as the hardness is so low at 3oDH. I am hoping to change about 10% of the water in...

    Water Conditioners

I am setting up a black water biotope 50 gal aquarium, and a similar 35 litre quarantine or hospital tank. I ran the 35 litre tank with sand, bogwood, and almond leaves and the ph stabilised at 6.5, with GH at 3o DH. I then added Nutrafin Aqua+ to remove any chloramines, chlorine or heavy...

    Returning To Tropical Fish Keeping

Hi Eaglesaquarium, I'm at the early stages of choosing stock for my 48" tank. I would like around 10 corydoras, not sure which species yet. Possibly up to 20 small tetras, probably of two species, a pair of Apistogramma, and a couple of others - possibly non-annual killifish. Early days though...

    Dying Cory Fish

I cannot think of anything common to froga and corydoras except the water. So I would exclude parasites or disease. The temperature is high for most corydoras. dropping to ~75oF might help. Both would go to the surface for air, so is there an oily scum at the surface which might interfere? What...

    South American Community?

Hi, I am hoping to set up a 60 gal. S. American black-water community with Apistogramma, Tetras, and Corydoras. I would like to add one or two pairs of Killis, preferably non-annuals. Has anyone any ideas about which would be best? I have no experience of Killis, but would prefer them to be...

    Returning To Tropical Fish Keeping

Hi Nelson, I am also returning after a long period away. I am having huge fun just researching what I want to do - almost decided on an Amazonian blackwater tank (48"). I am buying bit's and pieces as funds allow, and hope to start stocking after a fishless cycling period around end of July.
