I currently do 40 - 50% a week. My tap water in pretty high in phosphates anyway so not sure that increasing the water changes would help much.

Hello everyone. I’d like to remove phosphate from my aquarium because of algae growth. My tap water has 1.3 phosphates. So I want to use a Phos-pad in my filter to reduce algae growth. My question is, will removing Phosphate alter my PH? Cheers

My tap water does come from rivers and streams according to the water company. Had lots of rain recently, so makes sense that readings are high at the moment.

Maybe RO is an option

Thanks for the info. I’ve got a phosphate removing cartridge I can put inside my internal filter, but will look into ways of pre filtering tap water. I use a pozzani for nitrate but I don’t think they do a phosphate filter

Hi @sparkyjf. I use a pozzani aquarium nitrate removal filter. It removes all the nitrates from my tap water. You can connect it straight to your kitchen tap using a garden hose pipe. You may need to to buy an adapter for your tap ( depending on what tap you have ). I got one from Wilko for...
