Dp Questions But Where To Even Start?

When you replaced the filter and the cartridge you got rid of all the beneficial bacteria and didn't have anything to process the ammonia. Every time you replace the filter cartridge (media) you are starting from scratch and have to cycle again. Dwarf puffers can not be exposed to any ammonia...

Here a few new pics to show your wife. Fat and happy is right, today it ate 2 bloodworms this morning, one of the larger snails during the day sometime and 4 bloodworms tonight. My wife can pretty much take or leave the fish but with this one she keeps coming into the room asking "What's it...

Have Everything Read For Cycle But Need Ammonia

Ace Hardware, janitor strength, ingredients 10% ammonia hydroxide. If you don't have an Ace store near you can check any bottle by shaking it. If the ammonia foams or bubbles it's not pure. You want the one that contains no phosphates or additives. Edit: Ace Hardware Phone: (604) 279-0577...

It just ate!, 4 frozen bloodworms. It is an interesting fish to say the least. If you need any help just holler (KY word). I've done so much research I could probably write a book about them. Looking much better with a belly full of bloodworm.

New 5.5 Gallon Dwarf Puffer Tank

Here are the first pics: I picked it up still in the bag from the distributor. I tested the bag water and it was identical to mine. Floated in a container for about 30 minutes and then released. The first place it went to was the filter intake tube. Before the night is over I'll have to...

    Need Some Help With Ammonia

You might want to do some reading on the species you have. As some of those fish mature and get bigger the ammonia problem will become much worse and also they may become more aggressive and could possibly kill everything in the tank. Good luck.

New 5.5 Gallon Dwarf Puffer Tank

Your right that first picture was with the flash. Unfortunately I hated the layout so much that's the only one I took. As far as I'm concerned the cycle is complete since I've hit zeros on the 12 hr test every time since the 14th day, I think I'm on day 20 or 21 now. I've ordered the fish and...

New 5.5 Gallon Dwarf Puffer Tank

Tonight was big water change night. Stats before the change: PH..........7.4 Ammonia.....0 Nitrite.....0 Nitrate.....80+/<160 Now to the plants. Here was how I had it pictured in my mind when I bought the plants: There were a few things I didn't like or they didn't work out size wise once I...

    Rye's Fishless Cycle

Dose the ammonia at every 24 hr as long as it's a zero. If the Nitrite goes purple as soon as you add it the reading is 5+ and if you shake it and wait the 5 minutes it will give you a false reading. Once the Nitrite finally starts dropping you'll get a big Nitrate spike (80+). If you don't keep...
