Hi I had a massive ich outbreak which wiped out all my poor fish golden barbs, zebra danios ,shrimps and sulawaisie snail ( I think these were due to the salt) except 5 neon tetras which im glad to say are extremely happy now and swimming away very contently :) but I was horrified how quickly it...

Ive just read the article from PFK WOW some poor people lost almost all their shrimps after adding new plants and literally within minutes too they had to do drastic measures to save some and even then most didn't survive . The message I got clearly is to wash and wash and re wash all plants...

Hi all I have just been reading some threads on here and came across one which states new plants bought from LFS eg pets at home are mostly dosed with insecticide which kill the shrimps :( I didn't know this and thought maybe I wasn't the only one and thought to post it in a new thread :)...

hi I did the fish in cycle ( due to lfs recommending it)  with danios and golden barbs, I had a horrendous time and did many many water changes but unfortunately the cycle ( ammonia nitrite )got the better of them and they perished :( I am now 6 months down the line and have 5 beautiful neon...

Hi Sean I wished id asked that question earlier in my novice fish keeping :) I followed the instructions in my tank set up and completely threw away the sponge and carbon filters at the end of the month then put new ones in and completely lost all my good bacteria :( had loads of problems...

hi B3cca I noticed you have 6 male cherry barbs , I was thinking of getting some cherry barbs is there any particular reason you have all males or is it just coincidence :) I hope you don't mind me asking :)

Oh believe me I do many many water changes lol we all learn by our mistakes but unfortunately the poor fish ended up paying for mine :( I didn't buy from a tank with dead ones in it I certainly wouldn't do that in fact I've pointed out to staff a dead fish etc but as I'm new to fish keeping...

I think we are going to buy a couple more today to up the shoaling :) I'm going to try another rabbit snail coz I really liked him he was all over the place climbing my submarine (I called him captain nemo ) and he was even very active during the day :) then will wait a few more weeks and may...
