I just got a betta and it has not been very active. It also has some whitish stuff flaking off of his body. It doesnt look to be a fungal infection, so I was wondering if bettas molt or if there is something else that I should be doing.

Gouramis are very aggressive fish, we had some in my family's tank and they would attack the other fish and chew at the fins of the angelfish. Could be the same thing. They don't seem to mix well with fish that have elaborate fins.
