I keep 5 clown loaches all around 6 inches with 8 amano shrimp and have done for around 6 years and not lost one yet although there are some tall plants for the shrimp to escape. But each case is different and what works for one doesn't work for all. Jim

there not red patches more like small lines almost like a bloodshot eye but not heavily concentrated and they are albino too regards the snails i dont think so or not that you can see anyway

no real signs of any thing untoward externally except on the 2 female BN's who have a slightly redder appearance than usual and seem to be hiding towards the surface of the tank. The only real change i can see in the tank as a whole is the snail population seems to have increased rapidly over...

well unfortunatly he passed away during the night on closer inspection there seemed to be little wrong with him apart from his fins also being a little ragged but i put this down to fighting, but now im worried about everyone else in there as they really dont seem their usual selves. water...

This may have happened a few days ago during a fight with his larger brother, but i've only just seen him come out today is there any thing i can do to assist the healing or is it just a case it will fall off?, as it moves around quite a bit with the water current.

last night after she had deposited her eggs i noticed 2 equal white lines on her underside just to the rear of her belly (about where she starts to taper off to her tail). She was huge before spawning and all she wants to do now is hide. So could it be stretch marks or something more sinister...

I try to get mine to around 1"-1.5" (altho bigger the better), which i suppose tends to be around 3-4 months old.

i keep both BN's and clown loaches in the same tank and have bred several batches of fry with out problems, The clowns seem to prefer the eggs rather than live fry as i discovered the first time i noticed eggs in a non secure cave. Since then with the introduction or a proper cave (1 entrance)...

well i can offer two firsthand examples 1) ancistrus or BN, very active always out and about and not destructive in anyway max out at about 7 inches my big male BN 2) clown pleco not so active but a lovely looking fish munches through wood so a good supply is needed as my pair have shown now...

you say had done a 50% water change , what temperature was the water going in?

how do you all keep things like pipes/airlines in the place you put them eg secured to glass or as close to it as possible, i've tried suckers but they dont stick or go hard and then dont stick. answers on a postcard please

Personally i would say yes, but i dont know what your maintenance regeime is?. However i would say that your choice of tankmates isn't the most compatible or best suited to the size of tank but i'm not familiar with all the specimens your keeping.

well he and his couterpart must be about 4 years old now not sure how that relates to their life span? while i agree that it is a clown plec especially the way they've munched the bog wood hidden at the rear of tank, that isn't what he was labeled as when i bought them but i can't for the life...

if you can boil pebbles before putting them in to the tank i cant see gravel being any different, just remember to let them cool for a good time as they will retain heat
