It really is a joy watching the parents guard and care for the fry night and day, the male guards and the female only very rarely leaves the wrigglers side. They are in a 63g with JD's at about 2 inches and some red eye tetras and plattys for dithers, they are very well behaved in comparison to...

Well after 12 days together it happened! Really excited as this is my first time with cichlids. The female now doesn't leave the eggs apart from the quick swim out of the pot to grab some food, but not more than a few inches out, after watching for over an hour and checking throughout the day...

I have a recently setup a 63gallon tank, bought a new Fluval 305 but used old/mature HOB filter, substrate, ornaments, bogwood etc + some plattys and pleco to get the tank going, I tested it daily and it cycled within 10 days, so a few days after I kept testing then got a combination of 2" JD's...

Well the JBL Bio Nitratex is coming now anyway so I'll give that a go and see how it goes, if it works well then it will be a very inexpensive way of dealing with Nitrate as it will only cost £15 for 12 months!

It just looks like she's been bullied and the fins bitten off, she is doing fine in the new tank and hasn't done the slapping thing since, while I've been watching any way, I think I might try a salt dip just to be sure, the method I was going to use is here...

Ok I guess if you guys find it ok then it must be fine. Just out curiosity I have ordered some Seachem Purigen and JBL Nitratex just to see how that gets on, I just want my fish to be perfect, healthy and nice colours :)

I didn't do 95% only 75% I guess I need to do a BIG water change now then?
