Kribensis mouth rot / hole in the head

At the moment it’s not eating, (bit of frozen bloodworm next to it) maybe stressed from the move and suddenly being somewhere new and alone. I will try flake tomorrow. I wish I had picked up the one with gill damage too but it seemed a lot more sprightly and was impossible to catch in the short...

Kribensis mouth rot / hole in the head

Hi all. Spent the weekend at the in laws house and a couple of the fish were pretty sick. I did a big water change for them as they ‘top up the evaporated water regularly’! (Difficult as it’s the brother in laws tank but he no longer lives there) and scrubbed the algae off of the glass and...

    plants dying

Dwarf baby tears need high light and CO2, but most carpeting plants have the same requirements. You will be better with a substrate like fluval stratum than root tabs for carpeting, you will need a lot of root tabs! I recall that there is a type of rotalla that carpets. Or grows horizontally...

    Think I have Blue-Green Algae

    Think I have Blue-Green Algae

Thanks, I will definitely look into a different light, really not sure why I have ended up with a marine one. It’s odd it’s been fine for 6-9 months, then suddenly BOOM! I built the filter housing and waterfall into the aquarium, it houses the heater also. It creates a nice feature but means...

20 gallon lonng dwarf gourami tank?

Yeah iridovirus. You want to avoid that. There’s some suggestion that all dwarf Gourami carry it in some form. You could try honey Gourami in the same ratio, they are a lot harder to sex when young though.

FYI, when you write in capitals you are implying others are stupid for getting it wrong, also you stated nitrates at the same time as my post, they all came through at the same time so my response was not to your most recent one. Are you suggesting that melafix seeded your filter, because...

Ok, you said ‘nitrites were 1 in my old tank when we tested the water, it should be fine now cuz we just got 2 new fish’ If you’ve got a new filter is it seeded, or did you just ditch the old one with all of the bacteria in it? There’s no need for attitude when people are trying to help.

    Foam Under Acrylic

I put it under all of my tanks glass or acrylic. I had some laminate flooring underlay, 3mm thick. I don’t think it really matters too much what you use so long as it is dense enough and doesn’t just completely squash flat.

20 gallon lonng dwarf gourami tank?

Personally I would go for a 1:3 ratio and then stock something else that will swim in the mid and low tiers, neon tetra and Pygmy corydoras but do you want a community or species tank?

Nitrites at 1 is high. If anything getting new fish will increase this. How long has the tank been cycled, your beneficial bacteria should be converting nitrites to nitrates.

Anything I can add to my planted 52 gallon community tank?

I think you mean GH as the guppies prefer harder water.

    Think I have Blue-Green Algae

Thanks, the Java fern wasn’t the best when I got it and I’ve struggled to keep it healthy in the past. I also dose seachem flourish. I had salvinia but it all melted, I’ve got some frogbit floating in there now. It’s a sham because it’s a lovely tank, probably my favourite one actually, I just...
