I started my melafix course last night. The ill danio is still floatin around slowly this mornin and the other fish look fine so hopefully the course will prevent anymore fish gettin ill now. Will take some water samples to LFS and see what they say. Jab

I've lost a handful of my fish recently and now a golden danio looks terrible. It's fins are loosely held in the water, very spread, it has lil red dots on the skin, it's bloated up and it has a similar look to when a guy goes bald, thin and can see the skin if yu know what I mean it's also @...

No I aint touched the filter since I started the tank. I plan to change one of the carbon trays in next 2 - 3 weeks and then the other a week after that. I should say my tap water came up with the same result again too. I wonder if my test kit is somehow stuffed.

Ok I just done another test with pretty much the same result. I've been lightly feeding them and did a lil 10% change last night, water was treated. Any ideas?

Yesterday I did my big gravel clean, it went well and looked like I removed about 60% of the water doin it, I put new de-chlorinated water in without prob and all seemed well. I tested the levels last night to find that there was 0.25 - 0.50 ppm ammonia detected, no nitrites and 20 - 40 ppm...

Ahh ok thanks for the reply. The fish were in the bag about 50 mins total with aclimatisin etc. They seem ok atm, v cool fish too. :)

But we tested the water they were in and got suprisin results. Ammonia - 0.25 - 0.50 ppm Nitrite - 0 ppm Nitrate - 80 - 160 ppm Is this a common thing because of how stocked the tanks are? Just suprised theres no Nitrites tbh.

I did a nitrate test earlier and that was 20 - 40 ppm I can check others in a sec Can a fish be eaten that quick? It wasn't a tiny fish or anythin and would danios and guppies do that anyway? Edit: Ammonia and Nitrite is 0 ppm

It's a guppy I did some more checkin and really no sign of him @ all. V strange.

I aint seen 1 of me fish for over a day and previously he seemed to be hoverin near the surface alot. I've looked around in the tank @ the lil places he could of got in but no sign. I've been usin the net back over my siphon pipe since I had the siphoned fish incident so dunno whats happened...

The thing was I'm sure she did the test twice, but didn't see what she did the 1st time as I were lookin around the shop. I aint a fan of Aquajardin at all and I wouldn't put it past this branch @ least to influence the results.
