if you have a half moon then I would avoid tetras of most kind. A lot of people will say that neons and danios etc... are okay but only if you like tattered betta tails. These little guys will nip the tails every chance they get. Although you are more then welcome to try it out for yourself but...
I think for small thanks like that, bright light with pure white sand will look so beautiful! I've seen and even have a 5 gallon with white sand and a few plant along with a cave makes the tank look like a praradise!
