    54 litre freshwater aquarium diary

Hey! After a long while. I have kept my aquarium as a low tech despite of having great plans for it. Somehow it appeals to me to not have tubing take water outside of my tank in an apartment building. The Tiger lily has grown as well as the Cryptocoryne. Just saw all my 5 Otos at the same time...

    What are you doing today?

A bit exceptional day today. One in the year is usually such. I just came home from performing in my family's and Finnish Riihimäki Free Church Christmas concert. I participated with a flute and piccolo, which I don't even play very often. It was exciting times, since we didn't have much chances...

Neocaridinas with Dwarf Gourami or Honey Gourami?

Yeah. They are pretty. I considered them, but I can't consider them anymore now. :( Too bad. They look like small discus! But a lone male Honey Gourami I'm still considering.

Neocaridinas with Dwarf Gourami or Honey Gourami?

Ouch! Yeah, I read that those are prone to be more aggressive.

Ugh, I'm kind of glad I didn't have a chance of getting all those things at once. Plans have a little changed or refined and tuned down a little. I calculated all the costs of all the options for a canister filter side by side and the most appealing option right now is actually a brand new Eheim...

Neocaridinas with Dwarf Gourami or Honey Gourami?

Hmm, I've read by now several threads, pages and old posts in the internet. Seems many have the experience that HONEY Gourami would be the most peaceful small gourami and most said it to seem to leave the adult shrimps alone. The same can't be said about all Dwarf Gourami or Bettas. Though all...

Neocaridinas with Dwarf Gourami or Honey Gourami?

I have these lovely tiny yellow Neocaridina shrimplets now and hope to also breed them in the future in order for the stock to remain. I've been thinking though about maybe adding one male or a pair (male+ female) Dwarf Gourami or Honey Gourami to my 54 litre/12 gallon with 17 green neon tetras...

OK, nano tank... totally not me, but maybe my journey into betas, maybe Killi's, white cloud minnows???

When I was younger I had a similar dream of one showy fish in a small jar to admire so yeah I agree it's often the case. But now I've changed. I personally would love the idea of knowing that my fish are in a better tank than what they actually would require. I just love the thought of that! But...

2nd update today: I've been dreaming allot lately! ...of an used electronical canister filter Which is such a delicious goodie to me with adjustable constantly maintained flow rate for this smaller aquarium, different day and night flow rates and an even stream regime to choose from which...

Welcome! It looks like Glass Bloodfin Tetra. But that's just based on a google search. But it sounds logical and it does look like a tetra speices.

I bet visitors would be concentrated on the beta and not so much on the otos. And Otos might be happier in a group anyway. Shrimps though would occupy a different layer of the tank and would probably suit the tank. A colored shrimp might also be a sight to see and a news to many.
