    Gone Down Hill Again

Just wanted to give you an update on the epsom salt soak: I dissolved a tsp in a gallon of treated water and then I put him in a critter keeper with an airstone. I let him stay in the bath for about 20-25 min. It did help. He is still bloated, but not as much, and he did poo some. I may do...

    Gone Down Hill Again

So sorry to hear about your baby. I am having the same problem with mine. I plan to try the epsom salt for him tonight. I will let you know how it works out for me. Should be epsom salt. 1 tsp/g for 10-15 minutes

    Nitrite At 5!?

Another solution to the filter problem is to remove the carbon from the filter. That way you will still have the benefit of the filter and do not have to be concerned with the carbon removing the meds.

    Time To Euthanize?

I think I would keep trying only because Snowball is. With the majority of fish illnesses, it seems as though they die rather quickly. The fact that he is still hanging on makes me think he is not ready to give up yet.

I'm sorry to hear that Snowball is not doing better. I know this has been hard on you.

    Sick Betta Fish

You may want to not use the salt. Bettas are freshwater fish and 1/2 a teaspoon in a 1g bowl is quite a bit.

    Bad To Buy White Betta?

Yes, regular epsom salt like you get from the drug store. Not at higher temperatures. The higher the temp, the lower the oxygen level in the water. At temperatures of 82F and above, you must have an air stone. You can get the entire set up for about $20-$25. I can't remember if you have a...

    Bad To Buy White Betta?

Give him a couple days on the Triple Sulfa to see how he does. Another betta on another board I am on is actually surviving a case of dropsy. A couple of things you want to do. Bump the tank temp up to 84F-86F. I don't know if you mentioned it, but make sure you have an airstone and turn it...

Oh No! One Down, Others At Risk?

Just watch them for a while and then adjust the flow based on how they handle it. It will take them a minute to adjust to the new current. You will be able to determine what is the right flow for them.

    Betta Fighting... With Himself?

they will stress themselves if they constantly flare, but they usually stop doing it after 3-5 days or they don't do it that often. He is still adjusting to his new surroundings. And the acrylic tanks will show their reflection also.

Oh No! One Down, Others At Risk?

I can't answer the question about the barb because I am not very familiar with them. I have the Cycle. It is a waste of money. It does not work. I don't know if you have read any of the links regarding tank cycling, but they are all intricate parts of the Nitrogen Cycle. Here is the link...
