Computer Simulation of Koi Schooling Behavior

Doing a project for a local aquarium and need to get a computer simulation model of the schooling behavior of koi or other fish. Thought someone here might be able to help. If you have any other types of info on their schooling behavior, it would be most helpful. Thanks for any input you have!

    Shubunkin with Bump

Still swimming. He rests alot on the bottom. I wonder if he's not lonely... He's still swimming occasionally, appearing pretty normal. The lump has changed. Its not so pointy, but covers a larger area. I wonder if it wasn't some sort of infection. We're on day 4 of meds. I'll keep him in...

    Shubunkin with Bump

The lump looks smaller today. I am hopeful! I'll keep you posted. Thanks for the well wishes!

    Shubunkin with Bump

Thanks, Wilder. I'll treat it as a bacterial infection. He's slowing down a lot now and resting on the bottom of the hospital tank. Poor thing.

    Shubunkin with Bump

My 3 inch shubunkin has developed a large bump on his side near the head. It doesn't appear to affect him at all...still eating and swimming normally. Wondering if it might be cancer? Water parameters are within normal ranges. I intend to move him to a hospital tank and treat with a salt...

    An emergency in the making

Have you tried calling the Ich cure manufacturer? Often, they can help with specific cases such as this. Sorry, I have had no experience with Ich and fry. I agree that the salt and temp increase should help - its worked for me in the past.

    restocking

Recently, I bought a beautiful black swordtail with long yellow fins resembling a lyretail molly. In fact, it could have been some sort of lyretail molly, except is was in a tank labeled swordfish. Unfortunately, I don't remember the name, but he is beautiful. Very unusual and interesting to...

Am i worrying for no reason?

I read somewhere what a gallon of water weighs, but can't remember now...is it 7 lbs? I'd do some calculating first...desk looks a little crowded. Just my 2 cents... Good luck! :D

    Introducing New Fish into Tank

It doesn't sound like anyone quarantines fish? I've got two little swimmers waiting in the hospital tank for a few days before adding to the big tank. Am I being overprecautious? How long should I wait?

    Aquarium Lighting

Generally, 10 hours would be sufficient.

    Water Change...

With your population issue, I would try for at least 2 gallons a week (or 20%). The idea is to do more frequent changes with less water in order not to change the water chemistry too dramatically at any one time. If you can do two separate changes, that's good, but doing 20% in one go is...

    Tubifex Worms

Mine have never stuck either. I try to stick them on the side, but they just end up in a free float. I just fed my goldfish some and the largest grabbed one in his mouth and swam around for at least a minute. I thought it was stuck on him. I almost put my hand in there to "free" him...

    My Clown Loach needs help!

I am sorry to hear what is happening...I don't know what it could be. If you have a hospital tank, you might want to isolate him to keep others from picking on him and prevent spread of disease or whatever has him by the gills. Have you started treating the tank with anything?

    not sure what's wrong

If you have a smaller hospital tank, it might be easier to treat them (less meds, no gravel on the bottom for the ich to hide in, etc.) Also, this would allow you to crank the temp up on your 55 gallon to 85+ to speed the life cycle of the ich. If, after hatching, they don't find a host within...
