Bad news. I started noticing that white spots are appearing on the other fish; I'm pretty sure now that it is ich. I ordered some ich-x but looks like it might not arrive until January 10 :( I don't have any fish stores nearby so I'm stuck with online...
I haven't confirmed yet, but there are a bunch of white spots on the fins (even though it not clearly seen in the photo). It sort of looks like as if it were "dandruff." I'll take another photo.
The other dish dont seem to have white spots, and the koi doesnt seem to differ in behavior...
I've had this koi for around 5 months now (surprisingly) in a 10 gallon tank. If you didn't know already, I've actually been trying to find a new place to rehome the koi because I knew it would grow too large for the tank size..
This christmas, my uncle surprised me with some fish (and while I'm...
I've had this tank for around 6 months now and it's been cycled for four months -- most of the time, the nitrates are at most 40 ppm by the end of the week. The results pretty much stayed the same: ammonia and nitrites are at zero.
For the filter, I didn't replace anything but the cartridge...
Could it be a bacteria bloom / algae bloom? How can I tell the difference? This is in a 10 gallon tank.
Not sure if this is a result of a water change (I do 15% every week) and a few weeks ago I had to replace the filter cartridge. Is that the reason why there is a bloom in the first place...
I've noticed that the guppy I got a few days ago is pooping what appears to be stringy poop. Apparently this isn't a good sign in the tank; I checked the tank and everything is still normal:
0 ammonia, 0 nitrates, 40 ppm...
It's oxygenated with both an airstone and the filter, but I haven't...
@Naughts @essjay
There's a problem though... two of the three guppies we got suddenly died. I don't know what happened, and I ran the water testing kits again -- all of them are normal.
0 ppm ammonia and 0 ppm nitrates with now 20 ppm nitrates. That isn't lethal but it's barely been a day...

Wait!! Sorry everyone I didn't notice I made a typo, it was supposed to be 10 ppm until i read the comments but the reading is what looks like 10 ppm, not 100 ppm. Here's a picture from the most recent testing (yesterday)
Hi all, sorry if I seem to be posting too much. I ended up returning the females and got 3 male cobra guppies instead. Just wanted to know if it's normal for the guppies to stay at the top of the tank? They aren't motionless, but they do swim around a lot but don't go deeper, always staying near...
