ATM I have harlequin rasboras in a community tank and I have tiger, odessa, and checkered barbs in a "barb" tank.

I bought 6 about 2 months ago and they are thriving. They are in my all barb tank with some tigers and checkered barbs. They are active and beautiful. I hope you enjoy yours as much as I am enjoying mine.

I had a male in my 30 gallon long and he was gorgeous but mean. He picked on all of my fish: platies, pristellas, harlequins, and especially my cories. He pecked at and hit them relentlessly. So, I decided to move him to my 29 gallon that had tiger barbs in it. That was an even worse...

The "Moss Green" tiger barbs are not dyed. However, in my experience, the colored and albino barbs are not very hardy (maybe too inbred). I got albino tigers from two different sources and none of them lasted long while my "regular" tiger barbs thrived and are still thriving for that matter...

I agree with MegTheFish here. An Oscar has the potential to become so big that it cannot turn around very easily in a standard 55. Get the JD. It would be happier than the Oscar IMO.

My experience with tiger barbs is that they WILL bother cory catfish to no end. I had to move mine (the cories). My tigers are now with more suitable tankmates that can hold their own with them. Odessa and checkered barbs.

If there is a Home Depot in your area, you can get "Lighthouse" brand pool filter sand there and it is only about $6.00 for a 50lb. bag. Regardless, good luck in sorting out your problems.

All of the tanks in my sig are in my computer/fish room. Of, course, I just had to buy a bigger house this past April to be able to put them there. :whistle:

In my experience, tiger barbs have been very nippy to both ottos and cory cats. I had to ultimately create a species tank just for the barbs. I sleep better knowing that the tigers are just chasing themselves. :nod: Also, if the 20 gallon tank is a 20 long, it will have the same footprint as...

The only time I have ever been worried doing a water change is the one time that one of my ottos decided to stick its stupid sucker mouth to the inside of the gravel vac funnel. I thought he was gonna end up being sucked through and literally go down the drain. :sly:

I really don't like telling folks what to do but, according to everything I've read and the posts of the members of this forum, the best thing to do would be to take them back. There is no need to stress out the fish. Perhaps you could put in a few platies or pick out a few cory catfish. Some...

Unfortunately, bettas and gouramis usually do not make good tankmates. The bettas see the long flowing fins of the gouramis as a cue to fight.
