plec looks very ill today. not breathing well and has been upside down all day so far. no sores, no bloating of stomach or concave appearance. bought test kit, nitrate level off scale, very high and water quite hard. really hope he pulls through but not convinced he will. all other fish still ok

forgot to mention, plec about 2 to 2.5inches, tank only small about 12" by12" by 12". Have 5 neon tetras and 6 other small fish

dont know the tank stats. the plec in question looks like the first photo you have shown. plec still at bottom of tank and when he tries to move flops onto his side and struggles to get up. occasionally looks as though he has hiccups. Have had him since sept and hes been fine. have not...

my plec was upside down in the tank last night in the corner. managed to get him right way up but he is struggling to swim. his tail looks bent to the side. still eating and fins up. any advice would be useful
